Wanted to post the image of how it looked once I finished the painting, and then the image that I'd summit to a publisher would be the white background one. I'm interested in which one you guys like better.

I prefer the colored background. It flows with the earthy feel of the image.
i really like how it came out with the whole crow concept to the orc. I gotta vote for the bottom image as well tho. The top image is clean, but it seems like he's floating in space.
Thanks everyone for you comments and sticking with my constant updates.
I'll be taking this image and a few others to GenCon next week to show around and hopefully get some Freelance jobs as an RPG book illustrator. Wish me luck!
yeah, the white background really helps pop those colors. awesome work jeff, truly your best yet. keep it up! by the way how's the lead 3d artist position at ISO treatin' ya?? sounds like you're basically the boss over there haha
Looking good Jeff. Next image I would really try to play with the perspective. Making those hands and feel closest to us really punching out of the page. Very impressive image though. Miss ya bud and can't wait to see ya.
