More Run Cycle!

Since no one realized I have an animation blog I guess I'll start posting those updates here again.

This is a run cycle I've been working on for Brick (see character design below). It gave me a kick in the butt. But after several iterations I think I came up with something that works.

Head over to the animation blog to see the development.

PAP (smear?)

While looking at other pencil tests on Youtube I ran across this gentlelady's pencil test. It's very beautiful. Reading how she did it, she mentions this program called Plastic Animation Paper. There is a free copy as well as two retail versions. Naturally the Pro version has more bells and whistles. The things I really want. But, I guess I'll check out the free version.

So far it looks pretty neat. A fun way to do Pencil Tests that is for sure. Though I don't think you're going to be doing any finished work with the free version. Even the Pro version doesn't do color, according to their site that is best left for other programs.

Well, I wanted to make everyone aware of it. You can download it here and check it out for yourself.

Brick Design - Final w/ Color *tweak tweak

Here is the final design for Brick Bouser. I was looking at all of the guys that were World's Strongest Men competitors and they have this very unique body shape when wearing their back brace. It pushes there torso up and looks rather humorous. So I wanted to capture that in him and I feel like I nailed it.

My next bit before I start animating him is finalizing the colors of the outfits and get a better design for the hands.

Character design out the ying yang

Been working on my designs for Brick still and threw down 15 different bodies designs. Some may look similar, thats because I was also playing with the shapes within the general design. Playing between rounded and square edges etc. Maybe just making the chest a bit wider or the stance shorter.

So far I'm leaning towards the first one on third row and the second one on the last row. Of course that one reminds me of a gym coach for some reason. Though it might not be a bad idea.

This design has been stupid challenging. And I still have a while to go before its finalized.

My buddy Ryan was colored impressed...

Breff Wynaker

I'm the production manager for a group project at school and have yet to be able to do any artwork for the game. Wanting to contribute, I took this image Bryan drew and I painted it. It's not the style for the game, but it was a lot of fun to do.

It is twelve layers in all and took about 2 hours to complete. I really learned a lot on this one and I hope that I can apply that knowledge to my future paintings.

Where are you Brick?

Still working on the Brick Bouser design. Still not quite there.

Fun with Silhouettes

Just wanted to explore some silhouette stuff. Just threw down some black in the basic shape and then started erasing bits to refine the shape.
