Animation Blog

I just wanted to point you out to my animation blog that I started. I decided to separate out my drawings and my animation. So look to the right and follow your dream!

BeerSkunk

My older brother uses the handle BeerSkunk for every online application you can think of. I wanted draw up a cool avatar for him because I think the name is hilarious and conjures up some funny images.

So, using my new watercolors I came up with these two real quick. Unfortunatly the scanner cuts out some of the subtleties of the watercolor. I'll have to play around with scanning process to fix that. I've got some other ideas, maybe I'll draw them up and post them later.

Joe-spiration

In my quest to work on my understanding of color, I requested a watercolor set for Christmas. I was lucky enough to get one and started working on some paintings right away. Here is what I came out with after a few tests and playing around.

I'm not sure if I like the inked one better, or the one I outlined in just a brown watercolor. I'll have to play around some more. What I learned from my testing is that watercolor is very forgiving. Just take a papertowel to an area to take out some of the pigment and rework it. Or a great way to add in some highlights.

Retardobots, roll out!

Just saw the character designs for the new transformer animated series. All I have to say is that it look horrific. They are super organic (um.. Robots people) and super gay... I mean anime. Even noticed that they don't animate the transformation anymore, its just a blur and then they are changed. Dumb. I have a feeling at some point we are going to see Bumblebee make a face like the one above during the show.

Guardian Hobo Angel

A lady in the office I work at told a story about a homeless guy she gave money to. The guy gave her a huge hug and was super happy. She joked around that now she has a Guardian Hobo Angel and instantly I got this image in my head. Sketchbook ftw!

Silver is my hero

Some face sketches a la Silver style!

Work related stuff

Been sketching these simple "areas" for work that will be a part of the landing page of this web based game. This one came out particularly nice so I wanted to post it. I've neglected using color in the past but now I've been trying my best to include more, as you can tell from all of my recent posts.

All CC's are welcomes.

I've been Massively Effected!

I really like the concept behind the Asari race in Mass Effect. An all "female" race, they reproduce through a mind meld with any other species or gender. Pretty unique in my book.

And Biotechs eat your face.

Still playing around with color. This time I used Photoshop for all the color. CC welcome.

More digital sketching

Found this neat picture of a soldier and wanted to capture the mood of him and continue working on color stuff. Not sure which one I like better...

Warm up sketches

Here is my warm up sketch for this morning. Still working on color and this time went for a more graphical style. Just hitting the figure with large areas. Not sure if it was successful. I also wanted to do more background stuff. I need to work on that A LOT more.

*edit Too much fun with Sketchup, added the guy with glasses.

Bryan's Creed (mashup)

Inspired by my friend Byran who is working on a Viking Zbrush sculpt and playing Assassin's Creed, I was inspired to draw something around that era and this is what came out. I'm also trying to put more color into my stuff and play around with that.

CC welcome.

The Littlest Mexican Lady

Found this amazing picture online and wanted to make a sketch of her because she was so interesting looking. I used Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and Photoshop.

Found out Stephen Silver is doing an online class teaching Character Design. Way cool. He accepts 15 students at a time. Head over to his blog to learn more about it.

Two Posts in one day! Were-Hyena continued

Well taking a tip off of the folks over at Gobelin and how they lay out there pre-production stuff I decided to start working on my Heyna Layouts. I put this together and would love any feedback on how to improve it. I did two versions with different fonts, not sure if its super cheesy or not...

Inspired

I was over at my buddie Joe Karg's blog checking out some of his links and he told me about Mathieu Reynes. This guys is unreal! I love his stuff and I'm trying to ingest as much as possible. After going over his work I broke out my book "In Character" and began to draw some of the faces in there. These were the best ones to come out.

The other drawings are two faces I did on a dry erase board. I liked them so I took a picture of them with my phone. Dry Erase is one of my favorite mediums :)

Dis Bitch is 20 dolla!

Was with my girlfriend and we were talking about dog breeding when she joked around and said Breeders equal "Puppie Pimps", and instantly I got this image in my head and had to draw it.
